Beginners rifle

Well if you take a 6BR, add 10 grains of powder and the extra recoil to it, you will end up with a 243 Win. From a technical point of view, the 6BR obsoleted it with same/better ballistics using much less powder.

About the only reason to consider 243 Win is off-the-shelf ammo everywhere and easier mag feeding.
I’m kind of liking that 6GT. Screw a Shilen prefit in is easy enough. Less of a barrel burner than the 243, less recoil. Feeds better than the 6BR. Could it be a beginners cartridge?

I think the post was entitled "Beginner's Rifle".

First, Tikka's are excellent rifles, I have several - all shoot great with excellent triggers and reliable extractors. You can't go wrong with them.

Second, Caliber choice - if you are considering the Tikka Lite T3 option be advised that this is a light rifle and the recoil is definitely noticeable in cartridges over 243 Win. The 223 Rem in my opinion will be a wiser option than the 6.5 Creedmore in this model if recoil is a consideration.

If your heart is set on a 6.5 Creedmore, I think they now make it in the Varmint Model which is considerably heavier and dampens the recoil quite a bit. But do you really need the long range capability of the 6.5 Creed?

Third, consider the cost of ammo - 223 Rem is considerably cheaper. Availability could be an issue with both since the AR guys are in need of large supplies of 223 Rem ammo and the 6.5 Creed is the hottest new cartridge on the market.

Fourth, I can't think of a better beginner's rifle (for recreation only) than a 22 rimfire. It's where most of us started and learned to shoot.
