Hey my name is chad and I want to get started reloading. I love to shoot, but it seems to be getting very expensive! I was wondering what would be a good reloading kit? Alot of what you guys talk about is Greek to me. I hope I can learn enough to get me on my feet. I have hunting rifles that I enjoy shooting. One is a remington sendero 7mm stw and one is the new remington light varmit .308, they both have leupold vari-111 3.5x10x50mm. I have others but these are my favorites. Thanks...

Scat,
Thanks for posting with us. I think my very first purchase if I were going to start reloading today would be the Sierra 5th Edition Reloading Manual . It goes over the reloading process step by step. Precision Shooting at 1000 Yards is also a very good read. Look on Sinclair's site they have several great books on reloading.

Good luck with your quest.

Chuck

Thanks, I found a guy around home that reloads. He said if I didn't mind second hand equipment he would get me set up. I'll try and get that manual.

For a step-by-step walk-through of reloading, see the guide at http://www.rcbs.com/default.asp?menu=1&s1=5&s2=15 . ,Yes, it talks up RCBS gear, but what do you expect for an article hosted on the RCBS website?)

And chad, don't be shy about asking questions. We all had to start somewhere! Read the reloading books and read them again. And if you get to the point that you think you know everything, you're headed for trouble. Reloading is a fun hobby. Do it and be safe! And above everything else, have fun.:D
And remember, the only dumb question is, "Did I really do that last night!";)

hey chad, welcome to the world reloading. i`ve done it for a year now and belive me, you`ll learn more about guns than you thought posible. i shoot a 7 rem mag that i reload for and not only does it save $$$ but it makes better ammo. one thing i got to say though is sometimes all that extra ammo you got to shoot is`nt the best thing for your gun. i`ve read that the 7 stw burns barrels rather quick and i don`t think it`s one to experment with, i just found out it takes much $$$ to rebarrel a gun after "shooting out" my 22-250. i`ve learned that it`s better to keep velosity down with some guns and it`s life will increase:thumb:

Hi Chad,

Send an e-mail to me at Sinclair International, at bobb@sinclairintl.com, and I would be happy to forward a listing that we have available for new reloaders. It is a list that we put together showing what would be actually needed to get a new precision reloader going.

Cordially,
Bob Blaine
