Begara bolt assembly question

I have been messing with my begara bolt assembly. I have the bolt lift/close path polished and the bolt closes way smooth now compared to before. Now upon bolt lift it’s very smooth till approximately 98% open and gets a double click. I have checked repeatedly and the cocking pin is not over traveling slot to create this. I dug a bit deeper not claiming to be a smith or even a great mechanic but when I remove the pin that allows front float section to be removed from rear firing spring section and held together tight with my hands the click stops. I then slid two sections apart. Where that connection pin rides is the culprit for sure. A distinct click.
Does anyone know if it would create a problem I am overlooking to polish and smooth out that transition that when closing bolt puts tension on the lugs ?
Just trying to get bolt to open and close not only safely but also as smooth as possible.
FYI. I did install .008” spacers to slightly close headspace. Removing those spacers doesn’t help with that pin click.
Sorry for my complete lack of correct terms.
The begara is relatively a new world to me
Thanks for any input.

It is a definite I would say notch in the pin jornal of travel on the tension side. I am unknowingly thinking a smoother transition would be way better. But definitely don’t want to do something stupid

I’m not a smith either but I had the same issue with a Walther kk500 bolt and I do believe it affects ignition. With a magnifying glass I could see where the pin was rubbing and causing the click when being cocked. I used a jeweler file to lightly bevel the entrance. My pin is flat so I gently stoned it also and checked it for rubbing with machinist die.
The click when cocking went away and the rifle is more consistent shot to shot.
Just be sure to think it through and go slow.

Thanks. That is exactly why I tossed out the question. I will attempt to get a picture tomorrow

I'm totally confused (not unusual). I don't own a Bergara but do own a Ruger 77/22 and Walther KK500.

The Ruger is a 2 piece bolt similar to the Bergara (and I assume 40x) and has a roll pin that connects the two halves of the bolt body. Is that the pin you are referring to? The Walther is a one piece bolt and the only flat pin is the firing pin itself. There is a roll pin that passes through the firing pin.

Yes. It is the pin that holds the 2 half’s together.
The pin itself rides on back side of front half’s jornal. There is a hard transition between the different thickness. It seems to me making that transition a little bit tapered would still allow lugs to tighten up and would get rid of a lot of that double click on bolt opening ???

Similar but not exactly the same as the Ruger. There was a guy on RFC named Randy at CPC who used to replace that pin on the Ruger. Apparently it was not a good fit from the factory.

You might check the Bergara forum over there if you haven't already.

I jumped. I polished that surface in my picture along with the cocking ramp. Started with a jeweler file and worked to 320 lapping compound. Major difference imo
This thing is coming around.
Thanks
