Didn't know where to exactly post this, as it'll fit in any of the hunting, big stuff, or the show your Bat threads............

Absolutely beautiful looking rifle, but I would not want to be on either end of it when a round goes off (or to the side of the muzzle brake for that matter) - just too much gun for me.

Thanks for sharing!

Alf, good looking shoulder canon, my right eyes is starting to twitch and flinch from just thinking about pulling the trigger on that one. I shot a few rounds through a 12 lb 338-378 once, never again way too much recoil for this sissy boy.

Thanks all.

Of course, looks ain't everything, it's gotta put out....

I'd say I'm covered there too....... ;D

So I took it out for a little long distance play..............

The unsuspecting victims.....thought they were just going for a ride.....

More funner than steel........

Great looking and shooting rig! Osteoarthritis in my right shoulder and being a right side shooter means I'll "Stay on the porch"! ;)

how many rounds to whack the 6 jugs?
I can't remember exact count for sure, but less than you'd expect.

The details were lost shortly there after. ;D

Very, very few woodchucks, unfortunately. Mostly only the odd ones here and there in or around a quarry.

Dang Alf, that looks fun!! Makes me want to move to WI..

However, that thing looks like it bites a bit.....

Part Two:

__________________________________________________________

So I went back out the next night, wanting to stretch it further. Beyond the lone tree that I shot from before are some corn and bean fields, and I knew there were a couple of field roads I thought I could access to add some distance.

022yh.jpg

Just wasn't going to work, as the roads died at the beans before I could get my distant hay field in view. So back to plan B. I just set four jugs out this time in the same spot.

001jyz.jpg

Then I motored back to the tree, but further down the hill to the right, to add as much distance as I could. Managed to only get to 1391. I had about a five mile per hour tailwind that I ignored, and added two clicks from my 1375 zero, and let one go. Damn, came so close I had to get the spotting scope out to see if the jug was leaking out the top. Must of went just a tad high, so I shot again and pasted #1, slid over to jug #2 and ventilated that one, and the next shot ripped open #3!!! Jug #4 took three shots as I switched over to the Bergers, and they don't shoot quite as well as the Sierra's, but do fly 2 1/2 MOA flatter.

First time I ever tried taking a picture through the scope. Actually turned out pretty good, as the barrel was warm, throwing out some mirage, and I should have lowered the scope a hair to see the jugs better, but still gives a cool perspective of the dead jugs.

Donavan,

Although I sure would like Alf in person, but considering how much luck you and I have had trying to meet up the last two yrs, I am afraid my car would break down on the way to the Twin Cities.. ;D

I sure do appreciate the offer to meet up at Harris, but I better stick with my "approved" plan of shooting F-class this summer (or at least thats what I told the wifey :-[ ) and l have to pass on the Aug shoot at Harris. I have plans for two mid-range F-class matches in August at GFK, one is an approved NRA Mid Range.

However it still would be cool to go visit Al and shoot milk jugs..... Sure wish I had neighbors like him and you........ :'(

Rod

PS; Alf, judging by color of the liquid of the milk jug in the first pix of Part II, you need to drink far, far more water when out shooting in this weather..... :o

Rod

We're safe on the liquid intake........ ;D

A little comparison to ponder..........

223 brass............300 Berger VLD................338/300 loaded round
