Bedding

If you glue one in you need to heat it up to get it back out of the stock, a bedded action will come out when you loosen the hold down screws......

The glue in is much stronger and thus favored by benchrest shooters. However, some glass and pillar bedded rifles will shoot just as well. If you have no reason to pull the action, get it glued.

A stress free glue-in should be bedded first, then glued in to the bedding.

Lots of barrels and scopes have been changed trying to fix what turns out to be stressed glue jobs. That is, if the bad glue job is ever discovered. And when a glue job goes bad...how long has it been 'going bad' for? One match? Two? One season? More? How many fliers did it toss when everything pointed to that shot dropping right in there? So then you start doubting your ability to read flags or not trusting yourself. Bad JuJu when that happens.

Something to think about. :)
