Bedding seems too tight

I used the Score Hi bedding kit to bed my Rem LA with Badger recoil lug into a laminated A-5 stock.

I used a couple layers of cellophane tape on both sides, the front and the bottom of the recoil lug, but the lug seems almost like a vacuum fit. I'm not sure if this is just because the rest of the bedding is so tight or what. Is this common?

I generally use two or three layers of black electrican's tape, which measures about 5 thousands thick.
Cellophane tape is only half the thickness of black tape.
May be the cause of your "vacuum" effect.

Make sure you got all of the tape out. With multiple layers, and especially with clear tape, it's easy to leave a layer or two in the bedding. Get a dental hook or something simular and scratch up your pretty bedding. Just make sure not to leave anything scraped up above the surface. DeeC.

I'd like to know who made that laminated stock. I have been seeing several laminates exibit shrinkage problems recently, causing what you describe as well as accuracy issues.

If the job was just done and it is tight, do make sure there's no tape left in the bedding. I like to use a scraper to shave some of the epoxy from the front and sides of the lug recess if it is too tight. Also make sure that lug isn't reverse tapered or has any burrs on the edges.
