Bedding barreled actions -- How to Remove excess bedding material

When bedding a stock and bedding squeeze’s out between action, barrel and stock what is the best
Way to wipe it off.
I’ve been using a Q Tip and white vinegar but the white vinegar seems to discolor stainless steel

I haven't bedded in a while, but I I use acetone on the qtip.

Q-tips dipped in hot water seems to work the best for me. I used to use q-tips with wd-40, but that can remove stock paint if you use too much.

Q-tip, dry, & Q-tip with spit on it ...that makes it your gun, ...but no chewin tobacco, harsh chemicals, or lubes... that would be too personal and out of etiquette of a warrior's societal norms...like warm urine, but it might work.

i use Butchs sparingly and lots of q tips

I trim very , very carefully with a X-acto knife , and then use gazillion Q-tips .

I mask everything I don’t want the bedding to touch. Any metal parts get Clear Kiwk polish or Hornady One Shot first. Like to start clean up with a dull, pointed knife blade, then finish up with qtip. The sooner the clean up after setting the action, the better…of course.

I mask everything I don’t want the bedding to touch. Any metal parts get Clear Kiwk polish or Hornady One Shot first. Like to start clean up with a dull, pointed knife blade, then finish up with qtip. The sooner the clean up after setting the action, the better…of course.

This, but:
One-Shot, then powdered graphite (Impreial dry neck lube). I also pack the action with hard foam and seal with modeling clay so that there are no recesses to trap the action.

Then I use a square ended, wooden coffee stirrer / ‘possicle’ stick for initial scraping purposes, followed by a lightly damp Qtip / rag corner.

I start with a sharpened popsicle stick. Chisel style. Then finish with a Q-tip and acetone. I also tape off the action to just below the stock line. Makes clean up a breeze.

I use plastic knives and one i put a chisel tip on. I use these to get the bulk off before going to a q-tip or paper towel squares, then the qtip or paper towel chunk with wd40

I usually use blue painters tape on the stock close to the edge of the action / barrel inlet. After letting the bedding compound ooze out, depending on how much oozes out, I'll scrape some of it away with a sharpened popsicle stick. Then I have been using drinking straws pushed along the stock / action junction to remove the rest. The bedding compound goes inside the straw and then you just trim off a little and do it again. It leaves a little fillet at the seam that I clean up with a scraper and sandpaper after I pull it out of the stock. On the rear tang and bolt notch area I'll use q-tips with wd-40 to clean up the bedding material. Before the bedding gets too firm I'll remove the painters tape also.
