Bedding a tikka t3 lite?

Put a drop of super glue on the lug to stick it to the action and bed as normal without tape on the lug. Mine turned out great and poi doesn't shift anymore.

Yep, thats how I did it. I am getting better at bedding, and it came out really well. Just have to get out and shoot it, but it seems like the wind has not stopped in 3 weeks.

The very best way to bed a Tikka with a factory lug, is to use a 3 step process.

1) Glue in pillars-only

2) With lug in the stock, and area around the lug and rear tang inletted, bed the lug and rear tang

3) Finish bedding the barreled action, leaving the squeezout puddle under the shank.

I've done a dozen, but no one seems to want to put this much effort into it. This is how you get a perfect bedding job using a factory Tikka lug. If you like the way it turns out, you can leave the puddle under the shank. If not, you can easily remove it. I feel it can't hurt anything to stiffen up that part of the factory stock.

I have had 3 T3's bedded in the Nathan Foster style, for end filled as well.

The rifles are very consistent...gained 1/4 to 1/3 moa over the factory system (5 shot groups).

They will hold 0.5 or less if driven properly at 1000+ yards.

This guy likes to have clearance behind the recoil lug but touch on the front, sides and bottom from what i can tell. Kinda opposite of convention if im seeing his instructions right

Finally got it out today. Perfectly calm day. Fired 7 3 shot groups letting it cool 15 min or more in between. Slightly hard to tell because I really dialed in my setup compared to before, but I think there was at most .25 moa improvement, but maybe nothing at all. It for sure is not worse.

Since I last shot this gun I built a portable shooting bench, purchased a harris and protektor rear bag, and practiced a lot with the new setup with my 17hmr. I just had some cheap caldwell bags and a folding table before.

This is no surprise. I have bedded a number of guns and only one, a 10/22, showed serious improvement. What every single gun did do was return to zero if the stock was taken off, and the POI between ammo types was dramatically reduced.

I think she is ready for more serious ammo testing, and I am gathering up ammo now.
