Beautiful morning at Deep Creek

Mornings like these are worthy of sharing, especially when you see Elk on the way to and Moose on the way back…. :)
Of course I couldn’t miss an opportunity to do a little seating test on my varmint /hunting rifle ( aka the tikka dasher) even though it started to get a little sporty, I was able to find a depth I liked and moved from 1k to 546 yards and send a group during a full L-R and of course get kicked out by a let up. Regardless I think this dog will hunt.

Totally jealous !! and you live 30 min from DC IIRC........NOT FAIR !! I've been dying to do some testing but the closest 1K range where I can do some work is 550 miles and 12hr drive for me (for now)

Jim, I was in Bozeman last week and went to Missoula for an outdoor concert at Kettle House Amphitheater Tuesday evening. Tried to fit in a drive to the Deep Creek range for a look see but the time didn't work out. -Al

Back to DC this morning to get my new to me truck gun dialed in.

Ruger M77 tang safety model chambered in 30-06, this is a 42 year old rifle that’s seen some action and still shoots plenty good enough to kill critters.
Pardon my Bear he’s looking a bit shaggy today, I’ll have the wife straighten him out. lol
( here’s the first three shots at short range on an old target )

Sounds like you have a nice range down there.

The membership fees here are more than reasonable for such a big place, the caretaker does a good job of watching over things too.

I belong to another range up by Canada that goes out to 500 , it’s free to get a gate code but I donate to the clubhouse just because it helps them.

It gets freaking cold up here and winters are long but WTH it’s worth every minute to live in MT.
