bead blasting question

I just tried it for the second time and not liking the results yet. First time too much air pressure (90psi) created a rough finish, this was done with a pressure pot blaster. Second time I used a syphen gun with air adjusted down to 30psi(I'm guessing), with much better results but still rough compared to other jobs I have seen and felt. I am going to build a blasting cabinet to do this in next to save on the wasted beads. Any advice or pointer would help.

thanks,
anthony

What are you using for media ?
I run at 90#'s with glass beads in a cabinet and get a pretty nice finish..

If your looking for that real soft bead blast look try rubbing it down with some oil and fine steel wool after your bead blast. I know it sounds kinda crazy but give it a try I think you will like what you get.

There are different grades of glass beads. Check out Graingers and see what they recommend for a nice satin finish without the roughness. I would suspect that they might also be able to give you air pressures to use as well.

Just stay away from harbour freight as it will have beeds mixed in that are way to big and it cuts like a dull butter knife.
