.260 AI resizing problem

I've been reloading for 43 years and this is a never before experienced issue. A little background... brass is Prime brand that was fire formed from .260 - Fireformed from brand new brass
Dies are Redding - one is a FL 'S' style die and one is a body die
Fireformed with a normal (mid level) .260 load then first time fired with a mid level .260 AI load
Went to size the first piece of brass for second loading with no issue. Dropped the piece of resized brass into the rifle's chamber and the bolt was VERY hard to close and lock into battery. I adjusted the die up and down sizing brass each time I adjusted with the same results. I tried both the S die and the body die with the same results. It was much easier to just take a piece of fired brass and chamber it and close the bolt. Not sure what is going on. Any ideas?

I had this problem with my 6mm rem ai, I hD set the headspaxe a bit below minimum to ensure crush fit and I therefore had to have my shellholder machined down to allow mt to bump my shoulder back .002".
Not sure if this helps

Yes, Plum is right. You can either take a few .001s off the top face of the shell holder or the bottom of the die. I have a lathe, i faced a few .001s off my shell holder. Another thing you could try is to put a shim in your shell holder under your case base. There is some slop there so you can slip in a piece of shim stock, pop can, etc. to get your case those few .001s farther up into the sizing die. I did this on my 260 Improved too. Some folks will tell you to get some Redding shell holders, they make a set that is oversized, but that’s not your/our problem, you need undersized shell holders. Try the shim trick first, see if it is enough for your chamber and if it’s something you’re willing to deal with. If not, chuck up a shell holder and face it off. 10 minute job, if I had your shell holder I’d cut it down for you.

Thanks for the replies. I trimmed down a shell holder till I got the sizer die to work correctly. I had to trim it down quite a bit but it's working now.
