Looks Awesome!!!
Not a dumb question. Think of a candy apple. You see can see the apple through the candy coating. Candy paint is translucent and gets darker with multiple coats. It’s more of a dye then a paint, sort of.. it allows the metallic base coat to reflect through the candy when the sun hits itthat looks awesome Link!
How does the candy go on? wasn't it black/grey prior and now after the candy, it's red but the marbling still shows. sorry if really dumb question.

Give the candy about an hour and start clearing!
You should let it go just past cotton candy. How long between clear coats? Tacky ?
Clear 3 coats then sand with 600-800 after 24 hours.
Then a final coat of clear, dry 24 hours then sand w 1000, 1500 buff
Right?
Too much! TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST, the absolute best bang for your buck is to wrap up your stock, stick it in a box and send it to Brett in Oregon where he does 2-5 stocks at a time, buys bulk material and has a little thing called 30+ years of experience.awesome job with awesome instruction if i may ask, what do the cost of paint, solvents etc run on a job like this? thank you

Say $20 a can x
2 cans primer
2 cans base
1 can paint for marble
2-3 cans of clear
Add in quality tape and sandpaper your over $200
Now add in your time-
Prep and prime = 2 days
Block sanding and reprime = 1 day
Paint and 4 coats of clear = 1 day
Clear to cure out 1-2 days
Wet sanding clear flat and clearing last 2 coats 1 day
Clear to cure 2 days
Wet sand and polish 1 day
A week to 12 days with the longer time being the best way to go with Spraycan jobs to allow solvent to gas off properly.
If you decide you want more red, you can spray it before you re clear.$200 plus a LOT of time. Updated picture with better light and 3 coats of candy and 8 coats of clear. + 1 Joker / View attachment 1180039 I'm 1 happy camper at this point. The flash made the Joker stand out more than it does in natural light.
800 grit, and put 3-4 coatsI have 3 coats of candy and 8 medium coats of clear [ the deeper it got the better It looked, I couldn't stop. ] I also wanted to stay in the clear coat the next sanding away from the marble. btw what grit paper at this point? Before the next 2 coats of clear.
