Bat M action for 6 Dasher

Can I use a Bat M action as is with a standard 308 bolt face, or do I need to do anything to the bolt? I know some guys going to smaller firing pins to mitigate primer piercing.

I would think if it has a slide extractor and not a Sako type ejection would be erratic. Most of the Bats I saw without a sako extractor won't eject reliably. Matt

My Dasher is on my M OCTPIC and it works fine but I had to have the extractor converted from a slide extractor to a Sako. The cases kept flipping around in the action with the slide extractor. The Sako works better with 308 cases as well.

I might be a little naive about the extractor issue.

I removed my ejector off my bolt and I have a standard 308 bolt with a sliding plate extractor. So the sliding plate is an issue with the dasher case?

I have a BAT multiflat 1.47"

Not as big an issue for F-Class as Benchrest but I have had to knock cases out with a cleaning rod before I made the conversion however my bolt has an ejector. Give it a try with the slide and you can have a smith put a Sako in later if you have problems.

Don't seem to have an issue with mine, slide extractor
Dasher and 6 br. Just does not throw the brass clear of the action
when working the bolt slow which is fine by me.

Just talked to Daryle at BAT and he mentioned that if I am not "ejecting" the round, then the sliding plate is fine. It is the actual act of ejecting the round that does not work well with the Bat M actions and the sliding plate extractor and a Sako ejector is needed. You also need a single port, not a dual port for this to work.

Not true......

On the exhaust side, the top of the port needs to have an angle. The ports with a straight horizontal plunge cut don't work.

Sako extractor all the way.

I have seen a bunch of Bats that won't eject with the slide type extractor. In all sizes and styles, not just the M. If you call to order a new action and tell them it is for a 6BR or Dasher they will tell you to go with a Sako type. None of the Stillers or Pandas with a slide type ejects either. It will eject some but most will let the cases fall off on the way back. For F-class you can take out the ejector and pick out but for benchrest it slows you down too much. Alf is right and talking from experience. Matt

I do not need it to eject, I just need it to extract the round from the chamber. I am a F-Open shooter so ejection is not required for me.

I "had" a Right Right model M with slide extractor, and it didn`t do well at all with BR cases. I cannot fault the smith who ordered it for me because a 6.5/284 was top on the list when he ordered it for me early 90`s.

bsumoba,
I did like tclaunch, I build a 6BR on a M action RBLP RT eject, I wanted something big enough for a 6.5 x 284. The ejector would push the case out out of the extractor. I removed the ejector and pushed the case out by hand. Yours will work fine with just an extractor. I sold that action and got a B RBLP no ejector. I reach in pull the case out.
