Bat "L" Barrel question....

On a 10" x 2" Bat "L" Action.....


How big of a barrel can you hang on this action without a barrel block????

I know i have to go 1.45" diameter, so i`m looking for guidelines on the length.

They dont make a barrel too long or too big for a 10x2 action short of a tank barrel

Then why are so many using barrel blocks????

Some like barrel blocks. Makes em feel more secure. But most of those are not L actions either. You can hang a 1.250 at 32" off of a bat B with no problem and you have a ton more action and bedding area. If you go with a barrel you feel may be stressing it use some huge pillars and do a glue and screw on it. You aint gonna bend that action tho. If you do stress it youll feel it in the bolt function- check it before and after. Youll feel it dragging a bit more.

I have serial #4 for the B action. I wanted to build a Hvy gun that was just like a short range BR rifle. Something I could get behind and shoot like a rifle. It started with a close out barrel list from Lilja. He had a 1.650" barrel with some taper in it that was priced too low. I bought it and then got the BAT action. McMillan 50 HBR stock and I was in business. I'm on my 6th barrel now. I'd suggest some taper so it doesn't get muzzle heavy. 1.750" for 5" taper to 1.350" at 30".

I used a 32" 1.450 on my L for a 338 Ultra Mag build and never had a problem with it..
Fully floated to boot !!!!!
