This BAT, B1942, 1.35" diameter melanite drop port was glued and screwed into a McMillan LRB stock several years ago by Alex Wheeler. It was recently removed by Wheeler.

Some details: The bolt has been timed and tuned by Wheeler for zero cock-on-close and 0.240+" pin fall. The factory shroud was replaced with the improved silver one, a 25 lb. FP spring installed, and the rear of the FP bobbed....all done by Wheeler. Cocking piece was upgraded with the roller bearing.

Please note: all the scratching on the underside of the receiver is needed for any glue in and none of that is visible once bedded; the underside of the bolt handle has "1942" scribed on it because I mark all of my bolts for pairing to the correct receiver; all melanite is removed from the cocking ramp on the bolt body because that helix is changed by Wheeler for proper pin fall

If you want a shiny new BAT drop port then this one is not for you. If you want a 1700+ dollar receiver that is upgraded, and has been timed and tuned by Wheeler (300 dollars) then you can buy this one for 1350, shipped to your FFL.

Please post on this thread that you will take it, AND send me a PM. Gold members can simply send me a personal check. All others will have to wait for check to clear. No PayPal. CONUS.

Have to ask. So is the timing work done by Alex work with different triggers? Or the one he used?
This receiver was timed with a Bix and Andy trigger on a 0-30 hanger.
I think your question is best answered by Wheeler, but I can say that I have personally changed two other B&A triggers onto this receiver, and have noticed no difference in the cock-on-close or the pin fall.

I believe the key to consistency in those two aspects of timing/ tuning is to use the same brand quality trigger. In other words, put a B&A on this receiver, not a jewell, and install it with the "0" forward on the hanger. Ask yourself....... If the timing/tuning was only dependent on the trigger and hanger, then why would the cocking ramp helix have to have a new geometry to gain the .240+inch pin fall?

Thanks bugman. That's excellent info. I always wondered about that. Makes it easy to keep it all lined out. Fantastic action, wish I had the extra funds right now.
