BAT ACTION

I bought a BAT action, but having problems :(. It's 6.5x47 I was shooting cci 450 and having 2 to 3 misfires for 10 shots. I switched today to federal match and first shot was a misfire >:( I did shoot rifle about 15 more times and no more misfires. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help

See your gunsmith. Check headspace. I have 4 BAT's that don't misfire with correct headspace.

Check that you are seating your primers deep enough. Then check firing pin protrusion, should be in the .050" range.

Check headspace on new brass. I believe the firing pin protrusion is adjustable. Looks to be threaded with a set screw on my bat 3 lug. All my misfires can be traced back to headspace or primers seating depth. How are you measuring headspace?

It could very well be the new brass. I've not tried any of the brass I've fire formed. It does leave a hell of a dent in primers I just don't understand why there not going off.

I took the same cases that didn't fire, and pulled bullets and powder re-primed with new primers with no bullets or powder and they all fired. I primed about 25 pieces of virgin brass with no powder, and didn't have any misfires. I did take it apart last night, and cleaned bolt, and firing pin. Maybe that had something to do with problem. I also turned trigger hanger around there are some kind of numbers on the hanger 10 and 20 I think. Don't know what they mean, but someone suggested it so I tried the suggestion.

Are you using Wolf primers? Quite a few people have had troubles with getting them to fire unless they are seated deep enough. I use Wolfs almost exclusively and seat tham all with a K&M seater and have had great results with them.

Get a different trigger hanger or you might be able to turn yours around..
I bet if you watch your firing pin while your shutting your bolt (slowly) it is
slightly relaxing not staying cocked all the way back..if you look at the bottom of your hanger there should be a number, i would almost bet it is a 10 on 1 side and a 20 on the other side... If you cant get it to stop relaxing call bat and trade in your hanger in for a new 1..
This should correct the problem with mis fires, (If) you dont have any obstructions insde the bolt body such as powder or pieces of primer cup.
