One of the members on here was nice enough to send me some of these for my 7 twist 6mmBR. In order to start at the most popular length, how do these bullets like to be seated off the lands or in?

Totally depends on your rifle. I have found best accuracy with the 112 gr. in my 30BR to be from .010 off the lands to .015 jam.

This won't help but I am shooting them in 2 rifles and one likes jammed the other likes jumped. Need to test in your rifle.

The universal answer.... there is no universal answer.

I suggest start on the lands, work with a load near max, then start in .005 and .010, if you don't see improvement come .005 then .010, you might see a change if so continue, if not I usually am with Bill,, .015" in jam to .015" off lands are where my loads tune. There will always be exceptions, but they have proven to be rare!

Start at max jam, I usually establish that point at we’re seated bullet move back upon chambering. Establish maximum pressure with a given powder charge and start moving back in .003” increments. You should be able to find the sweet spot. I do all of my testing at 100yds. If they don’t touch you are wasting time and money. If they do not shoot at 100 the don’t magically come together at longer distance.

i START my workup at TOUCH(not jam) and shoot till i think i am at the top of SAFE.
I then work away from the lands. honestly if i find a great load away, i NEVER look at jam.
only if there is no great load will i work into the lands.
from original test i know max safe, and never find best load there, so when i jam i am at loads less than max.
50 years of loading helps create a feeling of what not to do.

Finding touch using the Wheeler method is a difficult to acquire but useful skill. At least for me it was, especially to get consistent measurements. Once you learn it, you can see how seating depths generally trend. Also. You can know that you are speaking the same language with the guys that use it and are comparing apples to apples.

I finally got my 6BRX on the bench today with the Hammer 105s in Peterson brass to check M V and see where my E C Tuner/Brake was gonna be happy with them. 1st loads out the gate found the happy place @ setting of -8- with a 5-shot group @ .148. M V 2978 E S 12 for the 5 shots. Bart's bullets always shoot well for me.

Start at a good hard bullet seat. Work up powder charge to you see pressure signs. Than start backing down in seating depth by .003 increments. Pressure will drop and you will find your sweet spot. Jumping will create a pressure spike which is not helping accurate loads. The goal is to produce a load with a progressive pressure curve, not a spike. Like Lou says, if it doesn’t shoot at a 100, it is not going to shoot at a 1000.

be shooters have lead the way in long range accuracy
f class targets are much larget than br targets at both 600 and 1000 yards
things some of you claim do not work
start at TOUCH( NOT JAM AND CERTAINLY NOT A HARD JAM)
(hard jam is a variable...touch is not)
you can them move OUT and see what happens.
if you find nothing you can move in(jam)
just me but to date i have always found winning accuracy off of touch
for my guns typically i am between 10 and 15 off
