Bartleins Barrels

From what was posted on BR .com, they are some of Kreigers employees that have started thier own barrel company. Jackie got 2 barrels and is going to shoot them this weekend.

A top gunsmith says they are worth taking a look at...I was thinking of an obermeyer, he mentioned bartleins.

No knock on boots, but the wait time would be significantly less.

We live in a free country. Business come and go all the time. John Kreiger and his company have always strived to provide a superior product on a reliable timely basis. As much as I like competition I hate seeing his company loose quality employees. John bailed me out of a jam last fall by getting me a cut rifling hunting barrel in 3 weeks. I will not forget that when I order a cut rifling barrel in the future. There are two other cut rifling barrel makers who have had my barrel orders for over a year. I also use button rifle barrels and the companies I do business with generally get me the ordered barrels in about 10-12 weeks.

I wish the Bartlein folks well. I also hope John Kreiger is able to continue providing cut rifling barrels at the same rate and at the same quality he is known for.

Rusty--the current wait time for a Krieger is over 6 months and I LOVE:D his product but when Speedy gets his 6.5 and a 6mm then tries them out I may just have to try them out. During a telecon with them a couple days ago I was told that the 338 tooling will be up in the short term so that may be my first. :)

I just ordered yet another 6mm from Krieger today and the lead time is still only 12-14 weeks. Was it for an uncommon caliber that they only run infrequently?

Last time I looked, Bruno's had a large inventory of Kriegers in stock--two or three pages worth of all kinds of calibers, twists, and contours if I remember right. Depending on what you're looking for there might not be any wait at all.

BTW, only once has Krieger not sent me a barrel in the estimated time. That was when they busted what turned out to be their last .20 caliber reamer. However, they made a special run of .20s and only missed by a couple of weeks.

Isn't this kind of a Wisconsin tradition?

I thought I remember both Krieger and Stallman used to work for Boots, then spun off to form Krieger and Badger barrels....

It seems that Bartlien offers the .224 barrel with two different land diameters - .218 and .219. Has anyone used both, and what would be the advantage or disadvantage?
Thanks Randy

Hi Just ordered one of their barrels they said 6 to 8 weeks.Nice people to talk with asked questions about what type of shooting. Also A. Warner said he has fitted up a few of these barrels already for people and he said the results looked good so far. Rudedog

Krieger never worked for Boots or with him in any way. Not sure about Stallman but I'm pretty sure he did. Frank
