Bartlein price hike

Everything is going up. That being said, they did make the effort to prove out a new alloy that gives better barrel life, and I'm a Machinist myself. I can tell you there's no way I would go through the whole process involved in making a barrel and sell it for $450. It would be well north of that figure.

Yes, we did raise prices.... again, and this time it was the biggest jump we've ever done. We didn't have a choice. In the last 1-2 years or should I say back to sometime in 2020 (the year of pandemic and riots) our operating cost have soared. The price increases we've had have not come close to covering stuff.

Our coolant prices I believe it was in April of 2022 the letter we received from the manufacturer.... that alone went up over 30% with our next order to them.

I've seen tooling/supplies have gone up 28% or more in some cases.

Lead times as well.... any tooling with carbide has gone up.... so, we are having to carry more to cover what ifs as well as lead times. Carbide chamber reamers for example in the case of 50bmg have gone up about 35% and the lead times are 6 months where it use to be about 3 months.

I ordered some specific thread gauges.... from the quote I was given at the tool house I added a $1500 to the customers order to cover tooling costs (special 50cal barrels that are going overseas).... so I finally get the order and I give the green light to the gauge house. Guess what.... the cost of the thread gauges and set plug went up to $2788! Prices have been changing faster than what we all think they are changing.

Quotes for shipping for export orders... the quotes are only good for 10 days now because shipping costs have been changing so much. That change went into effect late last year or earlier this year.

Wages.... yep.... those are going to go up as well.

It went up to everyone. Not just individual sales but test barrels etc... all up. One customer told me our price increase wasn't bad as another supplier raised, they're prices to them double over ours.

You can thank bidenomics! We are all feeling the pinch. Not just on gun stuff but the food at grocery store etc.

Thanks to all for being understanding!

I think you just have to keep it in perspective. Over the last 10-15 years barrel prices have remained surprisingly flat in comparison to all other components. A $50 increase represents is only 12.5% increase…. I would take that in a heart beat as compared to price increases in ever other rifle component, not to mention the meteoric increases in pricing for reloading supplies.

same here. I run a small business and was barely covering my bills. I DOUBLED most of my fees. Business has not slowed, it has actually picked up. It was either increase charges or continue to barely squeak by. It had been several years since my last increase--I should have done it sooner. The recent inflation forced me to go up. I have lost TWO clients since my increase and now have some breathing room at the end of the month. My final "straw" was paying 2.25 times my normal monthly supply bill for three months in a row. I hate it. The gov has printed so much money! ---That is what created this inflation! I have friends in other business who cannot up fees to my extent--they are struggling. I am truly blessed that I can charge enough to allow a profit. I was complacent to allow my profit margin to slip so much---the bidenflation forced my hand. Im sure that Mr Green and the employees do Not need practice making barrels! They need compensated for their time and expertise!! In other words they need THE MONEY! my 2 cents...marc

I did the same thing. I actually stopped doing stock work for a period of time because I was literally taking a 75% pay cut when I did it. I would go backwards every time I built a rifle. Quality stock inletting and bedding is very time consuming. Some customers of mine encouraged me to simply charge what its worth. I did and now I dont mind doing stock work. It did not seem to cost me any work at all. Like you, I should have done it a long time ago.
