Bart sets new 600 record

Alex,

The bullet was the Hammer. A 13 ogive VLD with SIERRA JACKETS. Its a new die and I’ve only had the die for a couple of months.

BTW thanks for the kind words!

Sorry for the slow reply. Saturday we shot a double match (16 Targets) and finished pretty late. As soon as we finished I parked the truck at the hotel and WALKED to OCharlies to celebrate with some good friends! So out late and up early this morning! Coffee with Moses and Drove for 6hours in a thunderstorm to get home.

Boyd Allen is going to do a write up, but here are the details down and dirty.

I was shooting a Bat action, stock is a Derreld Jones, gun built by Mike Moses, (action popped out and stock send to Alex Wheeler to install his keel) action reglued by Billy Stevens. Lederer Barrel 8 twist HV,chambered by Dean Stroud with his version of BR Improved, Ezell Tuner, jewell trigger, March 40X power scope, Farley rest, H4895 powder, Wolf primers!

Thanks to everyone and all the kind words and congratulations!!!!

Bart

Bart can you tell us anything about the reamer specs ?

Great shooting, you set the standards high.

Hal

I'll contend those bullets had plenty of help, obviously by the best in the sport. How long has Billy Stephens been bedding? Accuracy, I have been saying for years, is an accumulation, of efforts.
Absolutely agree with you Tim.
It takes the system working like it should.
I'm just saying I don't think most realize how close to perfect the bullets themselves need to be to accomplish this
The first questions are usually what barrel what action who was the smith finally the bullet
A bullet with just a slight amount of imperfection that is somewhat unstable will get affected by conditions easier
People think they hit a hummer barrel I think they have an exceptional box of bullets a lot of times and never know it

not to take anything away from bart's great shooting
BUT
as i recall the old record (308 win) was measured at the range as .383 or so, and the record came back as .404.
dang groups seem to grow in the mail.
still excellent.
Bart just set two new heavy gun records at Memphis with a .282 group and the old one was .404, with a 50 the old one was .5 something......... jim
