Bart just shot this in Memphis

AWESOME shooting Bart! After all his hard work I would say he has Mastered 600 yard benchrest! When someone does find out for sure, I am curious to which of his bullets he was using? Samuel Hall

Sam,

Thank you very much very kind of you!

I was shooting 103 gr Hammers!

Darrell Dacus knocked out a 1.881 16 target aggregate over the course of Two Days of shooting with the 105gr Hammers! That’s consistent!

Great shooting Bart. Today I was shooting your 105’s early this morning and will also shooting them again tomorrow morning. If you are willing, I would also like to understand your process of buying, selecting and testing your barrels.
As a follow up, under what conditions or barrel choice do you decided to shoot your 103’s vs 105’s?

Besides reading the wind, many of best ARA shooters say it is all about the barrels. You then find the perfect lot of mostly Eley ammo that shoots in that barrel. The big difference in RF it is highly unlikely you will ever wear out a barrel.
It is fun to see you win,
Ben

Thanks Ben! Much Appreciated!

I have been shooting Bart's for a number of years now. Unfortunately I'm not a accomplished shooter, however I do have fun.

I wonder if Bart could tell us what the fps is on his load?

PS I shoot like Bart, Bart Simpson lol

Ben,

Ive tried just about all the barrel makers out there. However, I’ve shot Lederer barrels exclusively for Long Range since 2017. I’ve not had a single barrel of his not shoot. So when I find something that works I stick with it!

What I look for when testing barrels

1. Find the most forgiving seating depth.

2. See how much change in powder the barrel can take and stay in tune.

3. Test to see if the Barrel is giving me anything in the wind.

4. The Sign of a truly killer barrel...is when the point of Impact doesn’t change while going up and down on the load!

As for bullets most of the time it comes down what I need to test at the time. Generally for a new barrel I’ll set aside 2000 bullets and use those for the life of the barrel.

Or If sales are lagging for a particular bullet I will shoot it for awhile.
