Barska 10-40 IR SWAT Sniper Scope???

I attended the "Carlos Hathcock Memorial Match" at Camp Lejeune this weekend. 1,000 yards. Talking to some of the veteran shooters and one mentioned that the 10-40X Barska SWAT Sniper scope is a quality scope "almost" as good as the big names, at 1/10 the price. A couple of us responded something like "bull excrement", but several others said they were still "testing", but the consensus is that this would be a great scope for a new shooter, who was trying to cut costs while wanting to try out the sport. Fascinating!!! This scope is cheaper than what I paid for my 20X Unertl 50 years ago! I think I will try one. Anybody out there have any experience with them???

I think your post has left a lot of mouths open with no words to express their thoughts. LOL :o.. I have some friends with Barska scopes on hunting rifles and they like what they have. The interesting thing I hear from some european friends is that "Americans will put a $100 scope on a $3000 rifle and the europeans will put a $3000 scope on a $100 rifle." IMHO, the quality of the optics are the number 1 priority for all shooting that requres them. Buy the best and pass on the rest. Research, research research, and ask a lot of questions. Best I can do.

Sorry folks. As good (or as bad) as the Barska SWAT Sniper Scope may be, the name alone would be reason enough for me to ignore it. I'll stay with my time proven Leupold's and Nightforces.

Barska are junk Chinese-made scopes. I acquired one for a cheap varmint gun, and I will never do that again. Worst scope I have ever laid hands on. Even worse than Leapers Scopes

O have 2 one is 1-4 power in a quick detach setup that I use to break in barrels without wasting ammo. The other is a mid range and I had it on a 22-250 and moved it to something bigger. The scope is not repeatable is a pain in the @$$ to move any of the knobs. And its POA moves as you shoot about 1inch in a circular motion after most shots at 200 yards. I paid about 250 dollars for the 2 scopes and the mounts that cam with them. The mounts are worth more than I paid and I still feel like I got ripped off.
But if you shoot an AR15 at 50 yards you wont notice the difference
