Barrels

We

Well i know at one time cooper rifles used Wilson barrels
Yes, same company. Only a few years ago, Cooper would re-bbl their rifles with a Lilja bbl. Saw one win a factory class national championship while setting a new record at the time, iirc. There were other Coopers in factory class. Of course the shooter plays into it but that gun kicked some tail in factory class for a while. It was still considered a factory rifle because, per the rules, it could have a different bbl as long as it was a factory offering and factory done. The guy had the paperwork to back it up.

I’ve got three hunting rifles that have Shaw barrels and have not had any issues with them. That goes for hunting accuracy and leading using cast bullets. My premium hunting and target grade rifles have Douglas barrels.

I have bought and chambered exactly 1 shaw. The chatter in the bore was on par with factory savage. Shot reasonable for a hunting rifle. The blank finish was also terrible and required more time to get the machine marks out. Only one example but it was the last one I ever bought.
As I would typically point out... If you are paying someone to fit and finish the barrel I would never go cheap on the blank. The extra cpl hundred bucks is money well spent and there are several much better barrel makers out there.
