kind of wondering why there aren't more custom barrel makers listed on the site. makers such as: Mike Rock, Obermeyer, Douglas, Kostashyn (not sure of spelling on that one), McGowen, Badger.......... a buddy of mine just ordered an Obermeyer barrel yesterday--yes on saturday--straight from Boots himself, and said it should be done in 2 weeks. now that is service--Boots already had the 6.5 barrel on the lathe. now, we all should know of the quality of Obermeyer barrels, as he is the pioneer of 5R rifling. just thinking out loud on this one

Unfortunately, Craig Kostyshyn is no longer making barrels.

For reasons unknown, Kostyshyn has not made barrels since early '07.

Why advertise the better barrel makers have a 3-10 month back order of barrels. You are lucky when a custom barrel maker can get you a barrel in less than 4 weeks. Boots makes great barrels. For the last few years he was backed up with government orders. If he is turning out barrels in 4 weeks it want be long that word gets out and he gets enought orders to be 10 weeks or more behind.

True fact on Boots Obermeyer getting his barrels done and out quickly, a friend of mine ordered his around Thanksgiving, and he got it exactly 4 weeks later.

i know how frustrating it can be to wait on a barrel. i guess that is why one should buy several at a time. maybe this will give Boots some more business and take some stress off of some of the other makers. I was just kind of curious why these other makers weren't listed on this site.

Not sure what his pricing is like or if he only sells barrels to customers of his gunsmithing services, but Mac Tilton at MT Guns in Santa Barbara has maintained a pretty good inventory of various barrels.
