barrels

Does anyone know anything about "Match Grade Machine" barrels?
I am considering an order, and wanted to hear of some previous results...Also would be interested to hear turn around time.
And last would any of you expect any difference from a 14 inch barrel compared to a 15 inch-er?

Thanks in advance

I just put the first 30 rounds through my 308 1 in 10 on my encore. So far I am very impressed. I purchased one of their in-stock barrels and recieved it 2 days after I ordered it.

I like Barrels where the makers name is associated with the barrel, IE: Krieger, Bartlein, Mike Rock, Lilja and others. This means the barrel maker claims his work, that says a lot. The exception Broughton, Harrold Broughton is no longer with us but everybody knows Tim North stands behind his barrels. Any barrel made to less than the best standards is a tomato stake in my book. Why would anybody pay good money to have a "second" chambered when the highest quality barrels are available. To do this it only creates the opertunity for a dissatisfied customer and bad mouthing of a good gunsmith.

These people are the folks who used to work at Virgin Valley making barrels before that company closed the doors. They should have a quality product similiar to that of Bullberry Barrels.

MGM doesn't "make" barrels. They fit and chamber Shilen barrels. I bought one of their .17 M4 Contender barrels two years ago. Top quality. Nice folks to do business with also. Vic

I spoke with the owner, over a few beers) during the Tulsa gun show a couple years ago. At the time, MGM had just started business. Things may have changed, but at that time they were primarily using Shilen barrrels but also would do a Pac-Nor on request.

Just for some interesting info: the owner knows next to nothing about guns. I get the feeling that he had a big chunk of money and wanted to do something "cool". He hired the employees away from Virgin Valley and Virgin Valley couldn't recover. He was proud of that. His employees, who I also visited with, are very knowledgeable.

blacknwhite Bullberry barrels are the top of the heap as far as the Encore platform goes The old Virgin Valley barrels were a step below in my opinion.

This isn't to say that Virgin Valley barrels were bad but at the end they had some problems.

Please let us know if you purchase.
