To all those who post the type of message asking for help in determining if a particular bullet weight/length will perform in their barrel: example " Will my 1-9 twist Savage barrel stabilize a 75 grain bullet"? There is a very informative article in the November issue of "Precision Shooting" magazine, page 81, titled "Shock and Yaw Cards", by Alan Marshall. Bottom line is, just because your barrel is advertised as a 1-9 twist, does not mean that it really is. It could be a 1-8.5, or a true 1-9, or a 1-9.5, or a ? And that's the main reason the answer is sometimes to "try them in your barrel". The person responding to the question is not trying to be a smart-a**: just trying to be the most helpful. I found this to be a very informative article that goes a long way in providing an intelligent explanation of the problem of twist rates vs. bullet weights/ lengths.
