Barrel & twist for a 22-250

I'm looking into re-barreling a Rem. 700 into a 22-250.
I would like some suggestion on type of barrel/brand, twist, length and so on?
The bullet will be a 50gr TNT, VMax or Varminator. The rifle will strictly be used for PD shooting.
I've read that after 18in the bullet actually starts to slow down?
I believe I have also read that the longer barrels stabilize the bullets better?
Any suggestion??

If you are going to stick with a 50 grn. bullet, a 1 in 14" rate of twist will perform very well. A barrel from any of the custom makers, chambered and headspaced by a competent gunsmith, will fill the bill. I can't say any barrel is better than any other. I've had great results with Hart, Pac Nor, Douglas, and Kreiger for PA groundhog and crow hunting. I shoot a .22-250 A.I. 1 in 14" twist Hart barrel using a 50 grn. Nosler Ballistic Tip travelling over 4100 ft/s. When this round connects mid-body with a crow, I see a black puff of feathers and the crow falls like a rock with the side blown out.

My rebarreled 700,Shilen) shoots 50 gr Blitzkings 3750. It is a 1:14. Groups .25,or less) MOA. Seems like I get more speed, same powder charge) than my last two 1:12's.
