Barrel Tuners for Centerfire Rigs

Guys,
Anyone using a barrel tuner on your long range rig. Say a 6br or 6.5x284. Some of the ppc boys are experimenting with them with good results. Any F-Class using them. Who makes the best?

Thanks,
Chuck

Hi Chuck,

I took delivery of a 6.5" twist .22 BR three weeks ago, and I have a barrel tuner installed on it. I am planning on using it for shooting in F-Class. I went with what had been known as the Accumajic Accurizer from Aftermarket Innovations. We had carried them several years ago, here at Sinclair, but they did not sell well from lack of interest from the shooters. I have used one on one of my varmint rifles, from the R & D testing, and I am very impressed with it, and I installed the last one that I had purchased. You can still get them, but it looks like you will have to have the folks at Bell & Carlson install it since it looks like they have the rights to sell, and install them. They are charging $179.95 to sell, and install, it in your stock. You should be able to look at it on http://rifle-accuracy.com/rifle.htm or you can call Jim Nassett at Aftermarket Innovations at 800-528-6900 or 503-585-2251 for further information.

Cordially,
Bob Blaine

I just started using a tunner on my 6.5/284. Too early to tell if it's making much of a difference. Used in my last competiton and it didn't drag my scores down... if anything they seemed to go up!... so it stays on a little while longer!

Hi i have 2 Stillar tuners and in F Class Open here in Australia i just shot a 100 at 300 yards, 99 at 500 yards and 98 at 600 yards the tuners do work verry well. oh the rifle was a 6mm Dasher 297 out of 300 won the day. I also have one on a 284 they are awsome i can dial a group from under .5" at 300 yards to ofer 2" by turning the tuner. I have developed a similar design to utilise the 1 1/2" cut of a new barrel with 4 weights to cater for different bisciplines. Ger a Stillar tuner before they all get sold out as Jerry told me when they are all gone there will be no more.

Cheers Bill

You guys are making my head hurt...I read over the entire explantion on varmint als page...Looks like it could work..but I'm too cheap to buy one of these gizmos..Looks like a movable constant pressure bedding node..Ala Remington plastic stock/wood stock forend trick....My guns are set up free floating only the chamber is supported in the stock...Maybe I can rig something up to now adjust/dampen barrel vibrations..In the old days of wood stock & normal barrels we would fool with the pressure exerted by that node at the end of the stock..great articles/info you guys & again something to test out...I need to retire to work on all these little distractions...
