Barrel Storage

I have a couple of barrels for my FTR rifle. Does anyone have an idea where to get a barrel case, or sleeve?

I like the silicone impregnated gun socks. I also saw a guy who used pvc tubes with some desiccant in them

I used some left over foam pipe insulation and kept them in a spare guncase. Recently, I bought a box of new LED light bulbs. Each one was packed in a 4’ cardboard tube with a nice cap that I can write on. Now I just need to build a rack for them. Never enough time.......

I use these for my barrels. Works great.

I use the same case for my Fiberglass cleaning rods. They are very nice cases. They are padded inside and are very sturdy. They are available in 30" and 44". Enough to cover just about any length barrel.

Howzabout a piece of 1 1/2" or 2" PVC pipe with a cap glued on one end and just a cap pressed on the other end. You could go high $$$ and get the glue on end that is threaded for a threaded cap. Bulletproof and cheap!

There is a guy on snipershide who sells barrel bags.They are padded cordura.Just bought one recently and was impressed by the quality.lung punch rigging was the company name.

This is good for shipping barrels, also. No more busted-out box ends with the accompanying road rash. I've been using PVC tubes with caps for a few years to store & separate my TIG filler rods, as well. Works like a champ.

Kids pool noodles, cut to length, blue paint tape to close and secure ends and mark on barrel/cal. Cheap and secure and very well padded for storage.

I really don't get the "padded storage" thing. We are talking about steel BBLs, aren't we? If it is NOT chambered, there is NOTHING you could do to the tube under normal circanstances that would hurt it...other than RUST. If it IS chambered, cap the ends and put it back in its shipping box.

Short of picking it up and beating it against a brick wall, it will be fine.

Now ..triggers, stocks, ammo, etc...yes. But a steel BBL??

I use a piece of string to pull cotton batting with some oil on it into the barrel and then cover the ends with painters tape to sit in the corner of the safe. Have not noticed any negative effects yet.
