barrel shank sizes and thread diffrences

I pretty much know what savage has for their standard and large shank barrel system. but what is the size and thread for the Remington 700? the Weatherby Mark V? The Ruger M77? and which is easier to work on? next question is there any backward compatibility between the manufacturers?

There is nothing difficult about any of the actions you mentioned. They are just different as is every action even from the same manufacturer. Excluding the custom actions available today of course.

They are pretty much all backward compatible if you have a lathe...sometimes they get shorter.

Truth is even Rem to Rem and Weatherby to Weatherby are not necessarily compatible. Many customs are all headspaced the same. but even those need to be checked by a gunsmith.
