Yes. And, there isn’t any two spots on most of them that run true with another.

That leads to the problem of how to even set it up to begin. Which is why most will not mess with one.

I agree that there's something about the steel that makes them machine a bit funky. Threading in particular though. Just harder to get a good finish but not bad. I haven't done enough of them to really settle on a speed/feed/depth of cut etc to get it what I'd call just right, but very acceptable. It tends to tear a bit...for lack of a better word. IIRC, the cm a little worse so than the ss...fwiw. But they both seem to share whatever the cause is.
