barrel rebore

who if anyone out there will rebore a barrel and if they will how accurate are they and is the cost worth having it done

I've never heard of anyone having this done. Seems to me it would be cost prohibative when you can get a new utility barrel, "good" quality, for around $150 and a premium grade barrel like a Shilen, Hart, Krieger, etc. for just a few Dollars more than $300. I also don't see how anyone can make a prediction on "how accurate" it would be.

Ive had a few good barrels rebored, one by Cliff LaBounty and another by Delta Gun Shop in Wash state after he bought Cliff out. Both times the barrels shot as good as they did in original form. The price was close to a new blank, but I saved a ton of work.
Delta's # (509) 684-5855

+1 to what Preacher said. Jim Dubell at Delta Gunshop or his reboring shop[Clearwater Reboring] is just excellent. He cut rifles his rifling. I have one and its looks as good as any new barrel that I have seen.
Of course the reason that I did this is the old barrel had an intergal rib and sights.

Yes,
It is reboring and rifling to a larger caliber. It would need to be rechambered. That is the reason that I did it on a special barrel. I think the only reline I would want is a 22RF.

+1 on what butch said about only relining a 22rf.....

My 16" .284 XP-100 was a 25/284 that I shot out, he recut the barrel to .284 and I used the old chamber, and just opened the neck area.
It's been a sweet shooter for the past 8 years....

I tried to use Dan Peterson (sp?) aka: cutrifle.com but he is so busy he didn't respond to phone or email inquiries. Delta did a terrific job on a barrel for me. You do not necessarily need a complete rechamber if you keep the cartridge family the same. If you had a .243 and rebored to next larger bore (say .264 for a 260 Rem.) one would only need to cut the neck portion of the chamber and would be able to use the existing threads. Obviously depends upon each individual case. Delta charges $220 to rebore/cut rifling. Frankly I cut the neck by hand and it works great but the cartridge I was going to only required cutting the neck and a tiny bit of shoulder so it was perfect for me.
