Barrel nitriding questions

I,m thinking of sending my WSM barrel out to be nitirided, just a few Qs. Do they, or can they mask the chamber as I dont want it to be too slippery, is this even an issue??

My barrel has 150 rounds through it, is this too many rounds through it for treating? (Ihave heard they prefer no more than 50 rounds)

You can't really "mask" the chamber. The entire barrel is immersed in a bath of molten salts at about 1000* F. It doesn't make the chamber too slippery. If your rifle has that many rounds through it, I would bore scope it first and make sure that the throat doesn't have any cracking or you will just tear bullets up and pull small pieces of it off when fired.

Remember, this is a permanent treatment- there is no changing anything once it's done. I have mixed feelings about the whole process and not sure I would do a barrel again. Time will tell
