Anyone have any long term usage thoughts on the magnetospeed after using it for awhile? Thinking of buying one.
I have shot 306 strings over mine. The strings range from 3 to 10 shots. Since buying mine all but about a half dozen shots have been shot with it strapped on. The shooting has ranged from load development to target shooting to informal long range competition to groundhog hunting. Six different barrels have been used and all have Harrel's counter torque muzzle brakes installed, so I use the "line" between brake and barrel as a gauge to try and strap the bayo at as near the same position as possible for consistency.
To me, the biggest advantage to having it attached to the rifle is being able to shoot in multiple directions. I can shoot a groundhog in one field at 400 yards, then swing around to shoot another in a different field at 500 yards and have a velocity measurement of both shots.
I do agree that it would be nice if it wasn't attached to the barrel. If I was a machinist, I would make a device to attach the bayo to my F T/R style bipod since I use that bipod for all my shooting.
