So who are some lesser known barrel makers that are also winning matches ageist the big guys? I was told of a older gentleman that makes a button refiled barrel thats winning a lot of matches but does not advertise at all.

This thread has several barrel makers listed: http://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/need-help-with-barrel-manufacturer-list.3900196/ About the only one not on there that I can think of is 'Blake Barrels'.

That said, I don't believe there's some no-marketing, old-man, mad-scientist out there rifling barrels that are going to shoot demonstrably better than the names you commonly see on an equipment list.

In fact, many shooters (myself included) have a tough time shooting the difference between top manufactures (assuming no obvious defects with the blank or smithing).

Choose a premium brand and a good smith; with a little luck you'll get a good shooter.

Those mad scientists are on the equipment list if theyre any good. The top 3 button barrels imo are douglas, shilen and abc barrels. Every verified true hummer was a shilen if thats of any worth. The new douglas 4 grooves are among the best for me. Ive had more than my share of maclennon barrels from canada and theyre good.

ABC barrels "oliver88" on here PM him and he will get back to you with phone number.
I got one and the gun smith said it was as good and as straight as any he has seen. Unfortunately health reasons have pretty much kept me away from the range to shoot it much.

The worst barrel I've ever seen was a Tru-Flite.

They did have a run some years back of barrels that didn't perform. Unfortunately I bought one but pulled it after about seven hundred rounds of frustration. Replaced with a Bartlien and never looked back.

Apparently, Trueflite have now got their act together and are ok.

The PNW Has a Barrel Maker ,that makes Winning Barrel and made some of His own Machinery .
This Guy is in the Portland Area. He is a Shooter as well and holds some NRA Records.
His Palma Barrels are as good as any ! and possibly Better ?

One small problem maybe two : No SS Barrels …… No Mail Service on installation. FF .

Some people my know of Him JB ??

For every top or middle of the line barrel maker there is someone who has had a bad experience even though someone swears by them. Try some, find the one you like and go from there. I go through a number of barrels a year but mostly from one of the top manufacturers because it’s who I have confidence in but another guy I shoot with won’t touch them because he had a ‘bad’ barrel from them. Just the way buying barrels is.
