Barrel life expected from Blaser R93

Could someone tell me how many rounds from my 22-250 i should expect to get accurate shooting with Blaser R93 in 22-250 please.

Forum Boss: This Blasser93 guy posted this below: "I have owned the Rifle since 1997, and have fired 5-7 K rounds through it, only factory rounds, no homeloads, and wondered how much life it could have left."

If he has gotten 5000+ rounds from a 22-250 that's exceptional. I've see them go bad after 1000 rounds. Barrel heat and firing rate make a huge difference.

Does it put a smile on your face when you shoot it?
If yes, then why care?
Oh! It’s over bore capacity? When I bought my 257 Weatherby you bet I knew that. So did a mule deer at quite a range. Smile from ear to ear.
Life is short.
I'm not saying anyone should be deterred from getting what they want regardless of case to bore size. Life is too short for that kind of thinking imo. Just saying to be aware of the barrel wear of overbore cartridges.

This would have been the better first post.

5-7k sounds like a lot of rounds in a .22-250. However, does it still shoot however accurately you need it to? If so, then keep on going until it doesn't, then you can decide to rebarrel, replace, whatever.

For your peace of mind, I suggest you take it to a highly-regarded riflesmith and have it bore-scoped.

Kudos for shooting your Blaser as much as you have; that means you've enjoyed it.

One more thing to consider is those barrels are hammer forged (pretty sure) AND melonited…. Two things that will extend the life considerably.

shoot it till you’re not happy . Then , only then , replace it . Think of barrels as tires on your car , the faster you drive ( shoot ) the faster they wear .
