barrel length for 6 ppc

i am wanting to get a barrel for an Ar-15. i want an m-4 style rifle. is the 16, or 18 inch barrel going to take away from the ballistics of the cartrige, and is the accuracy going to suffer a lot, or a litle. illprobably only shoot out to 500yrds. mostly 200-300 yrds. will the short barrel still give the amazing accuracy of the long ones at these ranges? thanks brian

Have you thought about the 6mm AR? It based on the 6.5 grendel which is bascially an improved 6mm PPC but it is renecked down to 6mm again with the added powder capacity... It looks pretty interesting and might work well from even an 18 inch barrel...

yeah. i have though about it, but i cant get any chambering reamer and i am lookjng to do the machining myself. this is where my problem persist. the 6mm AR looks very impresive, but i am looking for the machine experiance. i was also thinking of changing my mind on the 6ppc, and going with the 6x45. seems cheaper, and seems to be a good 200-300 yard round. and thats all i am looking for. also, fit in my AR mags.

I would opt for a 24" or 25" barrel, just my preference. I have had many 6PPC's for varmint and BR work.

20" barrels are LOUD! The concussion on your head is unreal after a while when shooting hundreds of rounds a day.

My current 6 PPC's for Varmint are 24" and 28" long...the 28" is a real dream to shoot because the longer barrel reduces muzzle flip and gets that noise away from your head.

Add a muzzle break to your barrel and you should be able to shoot 1-1 1/2" groups at 300 yards.
