		Traditional definitions of a transverse and longitudinal waves: 
Transverse are sine wave type ( shake the slinky side to side ). Shake it at the right frequency and you can make a standing wave.
Longitudinal are like sound waves. Compressing and expanding ( push and pull on the slinky )
