Barrel gets faster and slower.

Saw something interesting last week. I can say without a doubt that Every barrel I have tested in the last ten year's that the Velocity has increased with the exact same load at around 150 to 200 round count mark. Just last week I had the opposite happen on a barrel. It lost Velocity at the 200 -300 round mark to the tune of 60 fps.
Nix that I just realized that I had changed Powder Lot# on the last test... Dang it. Not a good Comparison as I changed one of the variables.

Increase in Velocity at 150 to 200 mark for you as well?

(This is why I don't really fine tune until I get 100 rounds on the gun.)

Every barrel I have shot speeds up starting at about 50 or so rounds an USUALLY lasts till about 100-150, then settles in. I "normally" get about 40 or so f.p.s. increase, however, 1 time I got about 100 f.p.s. increase!

That's why when you change lot# of primer,Powder,bullets, brass. you better check the velocity to get back to were you were. Done that rocky mistake about five years ago. So don't feel like the Lone Ranger.

I have never had a barrel get slower. They have usually increased in speed by 50-100 fps with maybe 1 or 2 staying pretty much the same. Changing bullets, primers or powders have usually changed velocities.
