Barrel for 6Dasher

I am building a 6dasher and would like some help choosing a barrel. I found a Criterion barrel that has a neck diameter of 272 and a freebore of 104. It is a stainless 28" matchgrade barrel. I also found a Shilen barrel that has a neck diameter of 272 with a freedore of 60. It is a 26" stainless matchgrade barrel. The shilen can be sent in with two dummy rounds loaded at the depth that I want and they will adjust the freebore accordingly. Unless the Shilen is going to be better I'm thinking of getting the Criterion. Comes ready to go and I don't have to send it in to get the freebore adjusted. Both barrels are new. What you think?

First off, welcome to the best shooting forum in the world....

As to your question; most .272 no-turn neck chambers were for the previous iteration of Lapua 6BR brass. They have changed the dimensions and PT&G now makes their Dasher reamers with a .2704" neck to suit the "new" brass dimensions.

It is up to you to decide if you want the convenience of a pre-fit barrel or a true custom made with a reamer of your choosing, assuming you have a Savage.

Another thing to verify. Shilen sells a match grade and a select match.

If it is only a match grade I would go with the criterion.
I have 2 Criterion and 2 McGowens on savage actions they are great

Ordered the Criterion barrel. Will be here Thursday. I'm a little nervous about switching the barrel on the gun that is currently in 308. Last time out I shot a 4" group at 900 yards which is the first time shooting that far. The only reason for the switch is when I went to 1000 yards my bullet was going subsonic and starting to tumble. That was with a 168 SMK. I know that I could have gotten a little further with a different bullet but right out of the gate the dasher is going to get me that plus some.
