Barrel contour?

Is there a any reason to choose one contour over another? In this case a light target/varmint contour over a light Palma contour. Both are .750 @ muzzle but I wonder if I'm missing something.

More meat back nearer the breach end makes it the stiffer and also the heavier of two barrels, where any maximum weight rules are your own.
