Barrel contour consistency

I'm in need of a new Krieger barrel. I was wondering if a standard palma will hold a rapid string of fire as good as a light varmint. The string will mostly be to 10 rounds but may occasionally exceed that, with a time limit of 1.5-2 minutes on a stage. This will replace my well worn but still accurate 6mm Competition Match that is a Krieger LV. It's use will be primarily for tactical type matches but may throw an f/class in here and there. I would appreciate some personal experience replies on this one, no matter what discipline your experience comes from.

Thanks,
Don Dunlap

I think the Palma profile may be better suited being heavier, the better to resist barrel whip & maybe even effects of rapid-fire zero change if your light varmint profile heats up faster.

F-Class barrels typically outweigh anything used by sling shooters (not that varminting is shot w/ sling much) but then 10 or more rounds in 2 minutes is a lot faster than we shoot (sling) prone events single-loading....

I doubt youll see a difference except on the scale.

This was my thought, it is 1lb. lighter. Some of these rifles get up there in weight ,15-16 lbs. Off hand shots can be a little hindering, especially if you have to make an impact before moving to the next target or multiple shots. It gets heavier in a hurry.

Well I have had good feedback on S.N. I have narrowed it to a Krieger Standard Palma, Remington Varmint, Light Varmint 1-7.5 twist finishing at 28".
