Barrel burner W_W760 or Varget

I wouldn't know how to tell what powder would be worse for wear on your barrel but I would think the hotter load of either powder would probably be the one that would put more wear on the barrel.

Every ball powder that I am aware of is double based and "energized" as it were, with Nitro.. This heats a barrel up quickly and erodes throats at a faster rate than single-based powder, like Varget.. Should that stop you from using it? It should not IF: 1.) it is more accurate; 2.) the same as or possibly faster in velocity and 3.) last but not least>>availability! Methinks you can easily get WW 760, where Varget is as hard to find as a good liberal!

760 is easier on barrels vs 4064. I have not got the extreme accuracy With varget in anything but a 308, so I can not make the comparison.

The 40.5g load is about 100 fps faster than the load with varget with 55g bullets.

If you had to use (FOR INSTANCE) 5grs. MORE of one powder vs the other go with the LOWER charge weight powder (if accuracy is equal). If charge weights are the SAME or VERY close I'd use the slower (in this case 760) powder.
