I know the subject of barrel breakin has been beaten to death, but here is another one.
Newer generation powders that reduce of eliminate copper fouling from collecting in the barrels have some advantages especially in barrels that like to run clean. I am using CFE223 with good results in a 17 Remington that really does like to run clean.
I know some barrels seem to shoot better with some fouling but the old regime of shoot one clean, repeat does get old, very quickly. Why not use CFE or one of the new IMR powders that do not allow for copper buildup when breaking in. No copper to clean so breaking should be faster as far as smoothing rough spots, feathering toward the muzzle...
Just looking for your thoughts.
