barrel break in not breaking

Im trying to work up a 6x44mm , Lapua brass, H4350, N160 and Berger 105 hybrids. Goups are 2 shooters, but what worries me is the more I shoot(only about 30 rounds) the worse the copper fouling gets. Patches sail right thru smoothly, but they are blue _BLUE. cleaned after each shot for 3 then after every third shot. JB(thinking about J&B at this point) cleans it up, but it comes right back. This is a cut rifled barrel of a respectable maker, smithed by a very respectable firm. Any ideas or do I just have a barrel with bad genes?

Sometimes a particular barrel will foul for 50 or more shots before it settles down, sometimes even more than that on occasion..
I only fire one at a time for the first 10 shots to be sure I get all the throat roughness settled down before
going to more than one..
I would check it with a good borescope before worrying to much about it..

Bronze/brass jag, but color is on outside of patch. I may have to see if my scope man is back in business.

I would shoot it alittle more before you call the company that made it.I would go up to 100 rounds and see where it is at.Preacher is right as I had a shilen that didnt settle down till about 100 rounds and all of sudden it stopped.

I pulled some hunting bullets off the shelf and sent 3 downrange. The fouling was appreciably less, almost not detectable. Iwas working with 105 hybrids, and this is where the fouling came from. Is there any history of Berger's hybrid shedding copper? or is this just an odd situation?

Nope, patches BLUE-overnight.Ill try a dozen or so more then see if it can be scoped if not improved

I use the shoot clean untill the guns showes marked improvement in cleanup. Then I shoot a few single groups and clean. The shoot clean has been as many as 20 rounds and as little as two.

I agree with jonbearman's post. I had one that took nearly 200 rounds before it settled down. Now only 3 -5 patches and it's clean as a pin. If it shoots nice small groups, be happy about that while you're cleaning. ;) WD
