Barr & Stroud Optical Range Finder needs repair....

I have a 1966 model 21 in almost new condition but it has moisture or mold on one of the two end (Objective?) pieces. Is there anybody still above ground that knows there way around this unit? Any leads appreciated.

These plus other types of Optical Range Finders were sold by an outfit ( I think in California ) called Deutsche Optik . You might do a Search and contact by Email or call them @ 1-800-225-9407 and ask if they can refurbish or who else can do the job . Good Luck !

I did that right off the bat. Mine even came from them years ago but some that used to work on them have croaked! May have to have someone knowledgeable about other optics such as big telescopes take a look at it.

I would try Lowell Amand in Lancaster, PA area. He is getting up in age but used to fix all kinds of optics. Maybe some one has his contact number. MATT

Someone responded yesterday with a telephone no for Mr, Amand and because I am on so many sites, I can not find it anywhere today. it might have been from a Matt. Really pissed at myself.

It wasn't me but somebody in the Lancaster area or shooter should know. He was really good on glass from all the stories I heard. Matt
