Barnhart shoots 200-15X

Shane Barnhart ripped off a 200-15X in the first match at Camp Perry the Band of Brother 1000 yard match. Even tied John Widden shooting. Whats the big deal??? It was with a Service rifle!!!!!!!! Thats a big deal.

WOW!

You say that but I bet my pay check that Shane only shot that rifle once or twice in the last 3 months. Especially comming over from the International shooting side of the house. Rawlins another International and also world cup shooter shot a 199-13X.

Pretty impressive. I have to hand it to the guys that is a good start to a long haul.

I had the opportunity to shoot next to Shane Barnhart and Brandon Green at the Palma try-outs in June. Shane picked up Brandon's Palma match rifle part way through the day and shot it well the rest of the way. They have good ammo and barrels, but they are just great shooters. I can vouch for that having seen their results up close and personal.

Stop the presses... Looks like the results page may be wrong. Shane may have been shooting bolt gun but they list him as a Service Rifle shooter... I should have known ussually the NRA has the results a messed up anyway.

It says Service, Service Rifle in the Catagory for Shane and Matt both. Also Amanda Elsonboss is Service, Service rifle and there is a picute of her at the 1000 yard line with a bolt gun shooting. Sherri Jo has Service Match rifle in here Catagory column which is correct.

In the XTC matches the NRA has that all jacked up too. Service rifle shooters in the match rifle agg. In the NRA blog they talk about Msg Norm Anderson winning with a TRUSTY SERVICE RIFLE yet he is listed as shooting a Palma rifle in the Andrus match. Its like this every year. Yet the CMP has 800 more shooters and they seldom make a mistake.
There has been National Records that have been set RIGHT AT CAMP PERRY that have never been updated since the 90's. The paper work is the down fall by far. I think the matches run well.. and its fun to shoot, its just the paper work that gets all messed up.

Here is the link to the prelim results of that Match.

Shane is shown in the match results as shooting Any Rifle/Any Sight. Still a hell of a score.

What I think is better is Bob Steketee's 200-11, that was shot with a Palma rifle and iron sights in a Any/Any match. Now that folks is some great shooting.

Yep it is now...But for three days in the prelim he was shown as Service, Service rifle for day one... the Mustin and Band of brother trophys.

Or consider Norm Anderson right now leading ALL shooters in the overall with a Palma Rifle... Or that Norm won the Mustin Trophy with a Palma Rifle as well. Never bet against a good Palma Rifle shooter even if your shooting the latest and greatest HIGH BC super uber slippery less wind deflection bullet out there. You might get beat by a 155gr 308..
Got to love Steketee he is a damn good shooter.

RT,
Bob has been a great mentor/coach to me for years, but most important to me is that he is my friend. I am not sure if Bob can even put a scope on any of his LR rifles, he is definatly "old school". Making the P 100 last year shooting a Garand was another example of his skills.
You are also correct in a good Palma shooters abilities. Put a few of them on the line and you stand a good chance of getting your backside handed to you.
