Barnes LRX Bullets

I gave the new to me Barnes LRX a try this year in a 300WSM. I messed with Berger 168 gr Hunting VLD's last year with less than expected results. To say that I was less than impressed would be kind. Accuracy was great but terminal performance was lacking. The LRX 175 gr bullet shot to the same point of impact at both 100 and 300 yds and also had great accuracy. I have in the past shot a LOT of critters with both the Barnes TSX & TTSX bullets with excellent results. The LRX performance was on par with the TTSX when they impact. Devastating bullet. They are also a VLD design. It's only year one but I'm already looking to switch some other calibers to the LRX. Couldn't be more pleased.

I have been using the 127 LRX's this fall in my Sako 85 in 260 Rem, and I have been very happy with them.
Pushing them with 44.5gr of H4350 and they are leaving at 2917 fps. Took a nice white-tail doe a couple of weeks ago,
worked as expected.

I have also used the 145gr 7mm LRX's in both my 280 Remington and 7mm STW with excellent results both on paper and on game.

I love the TSX and TTSX too and am looking at trying the 168 LRX in my STW and my new .284 for next season. The 150's out of my STW typically go clean through the elk (3400 MV) and are rarely recovered so I am not sure what else the 168 can provide in the STW except for a lot better performance in the wind.
