Barnes bullets - school me

Hello again, Toby. Seldom have I enjoyed reading a hunting thread more than yours. Kudos!

Re: "clueless Delta gate agent": I had to laugh. A few years ago in Reno, after requesting an exit seat, a Delta gate agent asked me casually if I understood the responsibility of an exit seat, and was I willing and able to open the door in the event of an emergency. "You bet! I'll be the first person down that slide, and double quick." Her demeanor dropped instantly to a scowl. "Oh, you shouldn't have said that, sir" she said sternly. "You're required to stay inside the plane and assist folks behind you through the door, you know." As God is my witness. She wasn't any kid, either, looked like a veteran employee. I got on delta.com and filed an FYI about it.

No fault of Delta, this, but returning from Amsterdam on that same trip my Boeing 777 ingested a cormorant or something on takeoff, and lost the starboard engine. That left only the port engine for the low-level go-around over the North Sea and emergency landing back at Schipol. But that's another story ...

I have been an advocate of highly accurate controlled expansion bullets for 50 plus years. I started with Nosler Partitions, moved to Swift A-frames, sciroccos and now the Barnes Tipped Tripple Shocks. For the 6.5 I like the 120 grain bullets. For 30 caliber 308Winchester 150 grainers, 3006 165 grainers, and the magnums 180 grainers.

I have a 300winmag I use for deer hunting and the 130gr TTSX is perfect for that. @ 3,550 fps from a 24" stick I get descent point blank range and they're very accurate with a mile long jump to the rifling.
