Anyone using these in a .30-06? Would appreciate your experience and loading tips.
Thanks

Hi I love those TTSX bullets in any caliber as far as 30-06 goes I have had good results with RL15 and Varget anywhere from 57gr up to 60gr of either .50 thou off the lands that yielded any where from 3300 to 3500+ fps with good groupings from my 26" 12 twist

Thanks Dean

I agree with Dean, I've tried almost every bullet made for deer and nothing puts deer down like TTSX bullets. Now I said almost all other bullets, I haven't tried the Berger hunting bullets and guys really rave over them also, but the solid copper bullets are very deadly.

They are to expensive for me, a box of 50 is the same as 100 for some other good stuff, what would happen is I would buy a box and say I am going to save these for hunting, so I don't even unseal the box, then then after a week of the box just staring at me, then comes the maybe I will just look at them, then I say to myself maybe I should load them up in case I need to go hunting, then next thing you know I am the one staring at a tray of 50 with the brass all shinny and everything, well that does not last to long, next thing you know they are sailing off into the sunset, I'M So Weak, so now we meet at the Y every Tuesday night at 7:30 for my self help workshop bring doughnuts.LOL

I use the 130 in a 308. I use Varget, Federal Match LR. As far as terminal performance, they are superb for busting both shoulders of a decent whitetail, or getting a fine "double hole" chest shot. Two tips...trim cases all same and make sure you crimp at the canular. The shank is short and the copper bullet tends to crawl if a compressed load or recoil is part of the picture. I love the fact that they perform well outside what could be expected of a light bullet and they do not recoil as bad as a heavier bullet. They shoot great in an old 788 Rem and a M-88 Winchester, as well as a fine custom 308 bolt gun. A very fine bullet. See no reason why a 30-06 would not perform even better, given the fact no compressed load issues. I do find that Barnes bullets (copper) like to be jumped, a LONG ways!

In the past five years I have settled on Barnes tripleshockers for all my hunting calibers, .223, .243, .308, and 30-06. Good accuracy, awesome killing performance, and they don't tear up much meat. We run a hunting ranch in Texas and I get to clean most of the kills, Remington corelock being just about the worst for meat damage.

However, I shoot the Barnes 110 grain tipped in 30-06..hits like a bolt of lightening, little recoil, and puts them down. Last weekend I shot a 285 lb. Fallow buck with one of my AR's using Barnes 62 gr. Tripple shock bullets..It went 10 feet with a shoulder shot.

I cannot say enough about the Barnes bullets..they are expensive, but I justify them not shooting that many during a season anyway...

You guys have had better luck with Barnes than I have. They seem to be a bit hard compared to the lead core bullets I use, and in order to get clean kills I need to adjust my aim point to hit the shoulders rather than just through the ribs. Not thrilled with the BC either compared to lead rounds, though I have used the new long range LRX 6.5 round on coyotes at some fair distances. What I wish Barnes would do is give us a softer tip, maybe with a fragmenting material like on the varmint bullets with the core being monolithic as it is now.

Several years ago, California hunters (most of the better part of the State anyway) had to go lead-free to save a couple of (@#&*$) birds. I shot about everything that was out from Nosler, Hornady, Barnes, etc. and found that while all the copper bullets were a bit more temperamental when getting them tuned to the rifle - the Barnes TTSX (and TSX) came to be the most accurate load in virtually all of my hunting rifles - ranging from .223 to .375 H&H. I only miss lead if shooting game beyond 500 yards.
